Implementing alternative energies is already a reality in many countries in the region, and ours is no exception. According to the final figures for the year, we closed with at least 62,406 registered photovoltaic installations. Likewise, at least 150,000 facilities are intended for self-consumption. Although we are still far from the objectives, everything looks very good.
Every day there are more of us who are committed to the implementation of green energy for self-consumption, either for domestic use or for commercial use. It is already more than proven that conventional (fossil) energies are among the main ones responsible for climate change and global pollution affecting us so much at health, economic and social levels. Therefore, the need to motivate a total paradigm shift; yes, you have to work hard on global awareness.
Alternative energies are a solution that will allow us in the future to enjoy all the comforts of current technologies without the need to have a terrible impact on the environment, as we unfortunately do today. An excellent example of this is the use of solar energy for sanitary water. Thanks to the new advances in photovoltaic generation and solar panels, today, it is possible to take advantage of the energy produced for the artificial air conditioning of homes and commercial premises.
In this article, we want to discuss the main advantages of using solar energy to generate domestic hot water. Only after first explaining how it works and the main components you need.
How can solar energy be used to generate hot water?
Many are unaware that one of the best ways to take advantage of solar energy generation is to produce sanitary hot water to supply household consumption for bathrooms, showers, dishwashers, washing machines and home heating.
Sanitary hot water (ACS) is mandatory in all homes. Its generation in the traditional way implies significant energy consumption and the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Because of the need to establish energy production alternatives, solar energy generation has been supported at an institutional and regulatory level, thanks to the great benefits it brings.
On the other hand, our country, from north to south and from east to west, enjoys a large number of hours of sunlight per year, which is why solar energy has always been a great alternative, both economically and for the preservation of the environment. . Likewise, if we allocate solar generation for the production of ACS, it would translate into savings of up to 25% and 40% in energy consumption in homes.
Now, how does it work? We might need a set of extremely expensive technological elements that do not fit into our budget. However, nothing is further from reality; you only need a water storage tank, a group of thermal collectors and a circulation pump. The panels would be integrated into the roof, terrace, or any space where there is no shade.
Thanks to the energy captured, the water in the primary circuit is heated and, thanks to a pumping system, it is distributed to accumulators or tanks, where there will be an exchange of energy with the water from the secondary circuit, thus generating domestic hot water. And the heating.
If the solar energy produced does not reach 100% of the energy demand necessary to heat the water to the temperature that the user desires, mainly where there are few or no daylight hours, the support of a complementary system will be necessary, for example, a gas boiler or similar, to raise the temperature.
Main advantages of using solar energy to generate hot water
Enjoying sanitary hot water with solar energy is one of the best triumphs we can achieve in our goal of self-consumption. As we mentioned, the production of ACS is one of the elements with the highest consumption in the home, so being able to generate enough energy to meet that need is already a total triumph.
Now, in addition to that, there is a group of additional advantages of using solar energy to generate hot water; we will tell you about it below:
- Possibility of receiving subsidies from the State
- It is one of the most efficient mechanisms to save energy and reduce spending on utility bills
- It is renewable, ecological and does not pollute (free of CO2 emissions)
- It helps reduce energy consumption from fossil combustion
- It is an excellent alternative to achieving self-consumption at home
- The Antero hot water generation system through solar energy has a useful life of approximately 25 years.
- Easy to use and safe.
There is no doubt that alternative energies are here to stay; they represent many social, economic and, above all, environmental benefits. For this reason, if we have yet to join the wave of self-consumption, the time is now to decide and start implementing some of the different solutions available, a photovoltaic generation being one of the most prominent.
